The TOP-course is unique in the world of polymers with the connotation of plastics because it follows the ‘chain-of-knowledge approach’.
The area of polymers/plastics travels through various disciplines encompassing:
- Polymer Chemistry/Catalysis, viz. how to make polymers;
- Polymer Physics-understanding the typical polymer phenomena such as visco-elasticity, crystallization, ultimate properties;
- Polymer Rheology-flow behaviour and understanding polymer molecular rheology,;
- Polymer Processing -extrusion, injection-moulding,
- Polymer Composites
Usually polymer chemists lack a proper understanding of polymer processing and notably polymer rheology whereas those who work in areas like processing and rheology have usually less understanding of chemistry/catalysis.
Based on now nearly 40 years experience we claim that in the TOP-course participants who follow the combined modules A-1/A-2 will get a proper understanding to be able to communicate along the whole ‘chain-of-knowledge’ with experts in the field.
